A model of the "Lion" locomotive built by Keith Remnant. Lion is a Victorian locomotive built in 1838 and worked alongside her sister loco, Tiger, on the Liverpool to Manchester railway. She had a varied career, including being worked as a static engine pumping water around Liverpool docks. She was rescued before being sold for scrap and was eventually restored to full working order in steam and toured the country appearing in railway festivals and displays. She appeared in three films including the title role in the 1953 Ealing Comedy film, The Titfield Thunderbolt, the first of their films to be produced in Technicolour, hence my model is of Thunderbolt from plans published in MM that year. (I think) She was eventually retired and is now on permanent static display in the Liverpool Railway Museum under her real name and livery, Lion. (18/05/2019)
